  • "Lovely property in a great location."

Good facilities. Well maintained. It is worth warning people that there is a fairly steep hill or steps down to town and beach. It was fine for us but we had considered bringing my older parents and they would have struggled.

  • "We think this is the best holiday stay that we have had in Dorset."

We love the area and have had several visits. This holiday let is in a great location for walks for us and four legs. Tried to book again for September but they're full....not really surprised. We only have positive things to say about this place and we loved the sun terrace. Will definitely be staying here again. Many thanks

Thank you for your kind words about our cottage. I am so pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

  • "Lovely property and welcome pack."

The rooms are comfortable and clean with good facilities. Sadly we feel that the outside doesn’t live up to the inside. The garden although when landscaped was obviously lovely it is now very tired and not maintained. Couldn’t see the sea view as the hedge was overgrown. The grass wasn’t cut and the borders are overgrown with weeds and nettles. Also sat on chair on the deck and the chair leg collapsed through the decking which is rotten. Bit unsafe and needs attention. Shame as the weather was beautiful but couldn’t enjoy sitting outside. The TV wouldn’t turn on after the 3rd day even though we renewed the batteries in the control, not the end of the world but as it’s a long walk to town sitting in during the evenings was left a little boring.

A very disappointing review. Maybe you should have checked the location before booking. Our cottage is only 0.3 miles from the town/seafront. We instruct a gardener every 2 weeks so maybe you should have reported the grass when you arrived at the property. We have had no other complaints about the TV not working. The decking was assessed at the beginning of the season and found to be sound. Perhaps you should have moved the chair to a different area or down to the lawn. Property Owner

  • "Great little cottage but we did find that the recycling bins were not emptied ..."

Great little cottage but we did find that the recycling bins were not emptied also the general rubbish bin was again full so had to take our own rubbish with us every day to get rid of also behind bins were dirty underwear and dirty nappies also bags ,only found this when we put the general bins out for collection which was done on friday 2nd june

Apologies if the rubbish bins hadn't been emptied. The property has a commercial rubbish collection weekly on a Friday, along with mixed recycling every other Monday. We do ask guests to put the bins out ready for collection. As a local agent in Lyme, if notified, we would always be happy to collect any excess rubbish to leave space in the bins for your stay. • "On arrival we were a little disappointed, the outside and grounds of the cottage could do with a little TLC."

..The bin and parking area need a tidy up and weeding. And all the windows need a good clean. However on entering the cottage, what a difference. Lovely and clean, well equipped with more than adequate seating and two lovely comfortable bedrooms with nice comfy beds. Upstairs and downstairs toilets are brilliant...this place is in a great location for exploring the Jurassic coast. Loads of parking space, if your canny you could get 3 medium sized cars in, and a beautiful view from the garden of the bay. Bus stops right outside the property for the coastliner service that runs hourly from 9am till 7am...For these reasons we would definitely recommend this cottage for your break and we will book Cumberland cottage again.

We're glad that you enjoyed your stay at the cottage. The property has a regular window cleaner and gardener, so we will pass on your feedback to them. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

  • "We had a v nice three day break."

Parking for two was tight and reversing out a little tricky. The car park and bus stop outside were busy (which gave the dog rather a lot to bark at!) And well lit, so the blinds and curtains were great. The welcome pack was ok but we had thought that it might contain breakfast items and consequently needed to go shopping, so best to bring them with you. Very warm house so no need to light the wood burner. It is a fairly steep walk back from town or up to the bluebells but too far. Clean and tidy with everything needed for our stay.

We're pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay, the bluebells have finally come out in force and can be viewed locally at Spittles. The Welcome Hamper is provided by a local company and contains locally sourced items such as tea, coffee, biscuits, milk. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

  • "A really lovely, well equipped cottage."

Comfortable facilities and everything you might need. My only complaint would be the heating. We got caught in a storm and came back cold and wet. It would have been great to have been able to put the heating on upstairs for my daughter to have a bath but the heating is controlled remotely. We were able to light a fire in the lounge but would have been great to have been able to heat the upstairs as needed and not simple 2 hours morning and evening with no control.

  • "Lovely, light-filled, comfortable home with all main rooms having views towards the sea."

Large living room and two bathrooms allow for four adults to share. Dog friendly, lawned garden at front of house with elevated private seating area at the side of the house. Secure parking at front of house which is off main road. The walk to town is 10 minutes downhill and, although we walked back up, there are bus stops right outside if you wanted to get a bus. Traffic noise was minimal most of the time and we found it to be quiet at night, although windows were closed as weather, during our stay, was wet and windy. We recommend Cumberland Cottage and look forward to returning.

  • "An excellent location, the sunrise sea views were quite spectacular, good parking area but the padlock securing the gate with ring latch was seized totally, lubricated and left fully working."

The lack of an electric shaver socket in the bathroom was surprising,as was the steepness of the stairs. Bed was extremely comfortable, and we very much enjoyed our first stay in Lyme Regis itself, great location to access the sea wall walk via the path and steps accessed from the car park.Very good television, and unexpectedly Sky TV,the compact dishwasher was excellent.

Sorry you found the stairs too steep… maybe this should be mentioned in the property details. There is an electric shaver point situated in the shower room. The padlocks need lubricating frequently due to the sea air. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay at Cumberland cottage to celebrate a 60th birthday."

A well situated cottage, although it is on one of the main roads going into Lyme so there was some noise from traffic. This is our only negative comment and that the bedrooms could do with blackout blinds! We loved the raised seating area and the enclosed garden (perfect for the dog) and we really appreciated the Welcome pack. A great holiday.
